Then, in November, the Iowa women's program's decision to make two-time Olympian Clarissa Chun its first head coach was praised. Recently, the Hawkeyes have been making waves on the recruiting trail, as well.  That said, the Sunkist Kids RTC and head coach Mark Perry are keeping pace with the Hawkeyes on the recruiting trail, despite not currently having a sanctioned women's team.  On Saturday, during the Bout at the Ballpark festivities, Perry and Sunkist Kids RTC picked up a pair of commitments from two of the best women's high school wrestlers in the country from the Class of 2022, siblings Kennedy and Korina Blades, both UWW age-level World champions, both of whom rank top-5 nationally in USA Wrestling's latest pound-for-pound national rankings. Three days later, Sunkist RTC struck recruiting gold again as Savannah Cosme, a 2021 Cadet World teamer out of Pomona High School in Denver, Colorado, decided to sign with Sunkist Kids to further her wrestling career.  Her announcement came via Instagram earlier this week.  "I'm excited to announce my commitment to wrestle for the Sunkist Kids RTC and continue my education at Arizona State University! I am honored to have this opportunity to train with elite athletes and coaches. Very grateful for everyone that has helped me reach this point ❤️ #forksup 🔱." https://www.instagram.com/p/CaAIzHLLBji/ Cosme, who USA wrestling has rated as the No. 4 127-pounder in the country, has racked up accolades domestically and internationally.  Internationally, Cosme became a Cadet World teamer after winning the 2021 Cadet World Team Trials in Irving, Texas, this past May. In doing so, the Denver native earned the right to represent Team USA in Budapest, Hungary, over the summer at the 2021 Cadet World Championships. Unfortunately, Cosme was unable to bring home a Cadet World medal.  Cosme is a 2021 Folkstyle Nationals champion and 2020 Super 32 champion on the prep circuit. Also, she notched a decisive win over a talented Alexis Janiak (currently No. 3 at 122 pounds) at FloWrestling's 2021 Who's #1, which featured its first-ever women's card. In a dominant fashion, Cosme bested Janiak (who she took out in the Cadet World Team Trials Best-of-3 finals, as well). At the Flo event, Cosme won 8-3. Tempe has proven to be the chosen landing spot for some of the very best female wrestlers. With Olympic gold medalist Helen Maroulis, World silver medalist Kayla Miracle, World bronze medalist Forrest Molinari, the Blades sisters, and Cosme are set to train out of the Sunkist Kids RTC. Clearly, ASU is currently a destination for women's freestyle wrestling! At this point, it feels inevitable that a women's team will be heading to ASU shortly. Hopefully, sooner rather than later.
