Friday, September 17, FloWrestling hosted the first-ever 10-match girl's card at their annual Who's Number One preseason event in Dallas, Texas. The inaugural all-girls card had a plethora of extremely credentialed wrestlers, from state champs to Fargo champs to World medalists.
On this card, 30 different girls from 13 different states put it on the line to see who is the best at their weight. The action did not disappoint.

TOM's Takeaways from Day One at the 2021 WNO
SaVannah Cosme Defends Her Top Spot: The pair met up in the Cadet World Team Trials finals, and Cosme me got it done in two matches. The trend continued this weekend in Big D. After a slow start that saw Cosme in front 2-1 at the break, she poured it on in the second to extend the lead and win 8-3.
Janida Garcia Reverses Her Fortunes Against Hanna Errthum: Garcia was on fire from the start. The young Californian put on a takedown clinic with four first-period takedowns to lead 8-2 at the break. Then, in the second, both Garcia and Errthum found their offenses in the second period with a combined 14 second-period points. Garcia got it done in Dallas after falling to Errthum 11-6 at Women's Nationals.
Age is Just a Number for Cecilia Williams: Michigan's Cecilia Williams, just a freshman, got it done over the senior Jenavi, Alejandro, a senior, 6-3, thanks to some outstanding defense. The match was the latest win in what has been a solid summer for the Michigander won a 16U Fargo stop sign this summer.
Diduch Gets it Done in Style: A back-and-forth first period saw Diduch with a 6-4 lead at the break over South Carolina's Zao Estrada. In the second, the Fargo champ out of Illinois added a step-out and a four-pointer that quickly turned into a pinfall for Diduch, the first of the evening.

Destiny Rodriguez Bumps Up and Gets it Done: Jasmine Robinson's huge throws were the story of Fargo this summer as that Allen, Texas, native was a 16U and Junior Fargo champ. Robinson was awarded Outstanding Wrestler in both tournaments as well. Destiney Rodriguez, a two-time Fargo champ and a U15 World champion herself, wasn't intimidated. Rodriguez dominated Robinson, who battled illness numerous times throughout the bout. The final was 11-4 in favor of Rodriguez.
Pastoriza Pins in 94-pound Bout: Our lightest bout of the evening saw a clash of a World champ (Pastoriza) vs Fargo champ (Solorio). After giving up the opening takedown, Pastoriza locked it in, outscoring Solorio 8-1 before securing the pin.

Cadet World Medalist Ava Ward Knocked Off: We had back-to-back bouts of a World medalist (Ward) vs a Fargo champ (Gonzales). After falling behind early, Gonzalez laded a throw to take the 4-2 lead, one the Californian would never relinquish. After a 4-3 lead for Gonzalez at the break, she added a final takedown to preserve the 6-3 win. With the "upset," Gonzalez will be your new No. 1.
Freitas was Freaking Dominant: Rose Cassioppi, who took this match on just two days notice, tallied the first point of the match on a step-out. From there, Freitas took total control of the match, scoring nine unanswered points to win 9-1. Freitas also had a pair of shutout victories against Cassioppi from the Cadet World Team Trials finals. The bouts were 8-0 and 7-0 in favor of the Cadet World Team member Freitas.

Audrey Jimenez Sticks Paige Morales: In the co-main event, No.1-ranked Jimenez, a Cadet World bronze medalist, won an offensive shootout by fall over Junior Nationals champion Paige Morales late in the second period. With the bout tied 9-9, Morales, who had the criteria advantage, went for a lateral drop. Jimenez blocked the drop attempt and turned it into a fall of her own.
The Main Event Lived up to the Hype: In the final match of the evening, the No. 1 at 122 pounds, Shelby Moore of Washington, scrapped against the No. 1 at 117 pounds, Katie Gomez of California, who bumped up to test herself.

Much like the co-main event, it was an offense-heavy showdown. The 11-10 decision in favor of Gomez came down to the buzzer. A four-pointer and counter offense made it seem as though Gomez wound run away with the match, but a gutsy four-pointer from a headlock from Shelby Moore shrunk what was then an 11-6 deficit for Moore. Gomez, a 2021 Cadet World champion, held on to win by the narrowest margin over Moore, a 2021 Junior and 16U Fargo champ.
