COLUMBIA, Ky. – Brandon Benvenuti has been hired as the Lindsey Wilson wrestling assistant coach, head coach Jameel Bryant announced on Friday.

"I am excited about this hire for our program as Brandon is the missing piece to what Lindsey needs with his focus on the 125 to 149-pound weight class," Bryant said. "Brandon wrestled collegiately at Grandview (Iowa), and he will add to the championship lifestyle here at Lindsey Wilson College."

Benvenuti comes to Lindsey Wilson after serving as the head coach at Oakmont High School in Roseville, California for the past two seasons. He also had coaching stints at Grand View and Central Missouri, NAIA and NCAA II programs, respectively.

"I want to thank Lindsey Wilson President Dr. William T. Luckey Jr., Athletics Director Willis Pooler and Jameel Bryant for this opportunity," Benvenuti said. "I am excited about what the future will bring with the Blue Raiders and think that the best for the program is yet to come for one of the top NAIA programs in the country."

Benvenuti had a storied career on the mat as a wrestler at Grand View, Lindenwood (Mo.) and Sierra (Calif.) earning NAIA All-American status four times. He placed at the NAIA National Championship four times finishing runner-up, in fourth place twice and sixth once.

The Sacramento, Calif. native earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Grand View and more recently completed his master's degree in Kinesiology at the University of Central Missouri.
