Pat Popolizio’s 'Pack' Adds Another Wolf, TOM’s No. 14 at 182, Matthew Singleton
Much of the wrestling ecosystem focused on the international forms of the sport.  Still, with Fargo currently underway, the Cadet Championships beginning tomorrow, and the Olympic Games less than a week away, we have a huge college commitment to share coming from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).  Matt Singleton (Woodward Academy, GA) committed via Instagram to coach Popolizio’s NC State Wolfpack and the reigning ACC Tournament champs on Sunday, July 18. Singleton is currently ranked No. 14 in TOM’s latest Class of 2022 rankings “Excited to announce I’ll be continuing my collegiate and athletic career at NC State. Super thankful to all colleges and coaches I talked to. Running with the pack…🐺#ncstate #wolfpack Singleton is a three-time Georgia state champion looking for a four-peat in 2022 as a senior.  Singleton, one of the more prominent names absent from the Fargo 2021 field, has good reason to be missing in action. The soon-to-be senior is currently training for the Junior World Championships next month in Ufa, Russia. The Georgia prep will be Team USA’s Greco-Roman rep at 77 kg. Singleton, a talented freestyler, also placed fifth in freestyle (79 kg) at Team Trials months back.  Complementing his high school state titles and international accolades, Singleton has a pair of Fargo runner-up finishes from 2019, one in freestyle and the other in Greco.  At the next level, Singleton projects as a 184-pounder, a weight currently occupied by 2021 NCAA finalist Trent Hidlay, who has three years of eligibility remaining. That said, Singleton is a massive pickup for the ACC powerhouse that is returning its entire starting 10 next season.  https://twitter.com/RyanTice/status/1416825566792200192?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1416825566792200192%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.backingthepack.com%2F2021%2F7%2F18%2F22582681%2Fnc-state-wrestling-stays-hot-on-the-recruiting-trail
