Malvern Prep's Caden Rogers Pledges to be a Lehigh Mountain Hawk

Pat Santoro and the Lehigh wrestling program ended the weekend on a high note after securing a verbal commitment from yet another TOM top-40 recruit in the Class of 2022, Malvern Prep 195-pounder Caden Rogers.

"I'm extremely excited to announce my commitment to Lehigh University!! I could not of done this without an amazing support system of my family, friends, training partners, coaches, and @malvernprepwrestling. I especially want to thank my dad, who has been my rock and has had a greater impact on my life than he will ever know! Let's ROCK N' ROLL!!!," Rogers said via Instagram post

Rogers, TOM's No. 28 at 195, will be joined in in Bethlehem (PA) by TOM's No. 5 Ryan Crookham (Saucon Valley, PA) and TOM's No. 38 PJ Casale (Delbarton, NJ), both from the Class of 2022 as well.

In three seasons at Malvern, Rogers has steadily improved year after year despite multiple weight class jumps throughout his career. As a freshman, Rogers took sixth at National Prep Championships. As a sophomore, Rogers rose to third at the Prep Championship before winning it all this past season in 2021. His path to the title required the Malvern big man to take out multiple Division I-bound recruits in the process, including Luke Duthie (Wyoming Seminary, PA/Cornell commit), David Harper (The Baylor School, TN/Wyoming commit).

In late June, Rodgers earned a dominant victory by fall over Harper once again at the Scholastic Duals in Orlando.

Other noteworthy finishes through his high school career include podium placements at Beast of the East (eighth), NHSCA Freshman Nationals (seventh), Fargo Nationals (fifth in Greco), and Powerade (runner-up).

Rogers will look to improve upon his previous fifth-place Fargo finish later this weekend at the Fargodome in Fargo North Dakota during the 2021 USMC Junior and 16U Nationals.

Both Rogers and Casale will provide Lehigh with some much-needed depth at 197, a weight that will be up for grabs in the years to come. Rogers and Casale will be contenders for the weight as soon as they get on campus in Bethlehem.
