Results: Team USA Grabs 12 More Medals and Wins Pair of Women's Team Crowns at Cadet and Junior Pan AMs

OAXTEPEC, Mexico – Team USA won nine more gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal at the Cadet and Junior Pan American Championships on Saturday with Junior women’s freestyle, Junior men’s freestyle, Cadet women’s freestyle and Cadet Greco-Roman action taking place in Oaxtepec, Mexico.

The Red, White and Blue also captured team titles in both the Cadet and Junior women’s freestyle divisions.

The tournament closes out on Sunday with the remaining weights in Junior men’s freestyle and Cadet Greco-Roman. Action begins at 9 a.m. CT live on FloWrestling. Check out the detailed schedule for more information.

Junior women’s freestyle
USA closed out the Junior women’s freestyle strong winning the two gold medals that were up for grabs as Katerina Lange (65 kg) and Lillian Freitas (72 kg) went undefeated on the day.

The squad claimed the team title with five champions and 176 points. Finishing second was Mexico with 147 points and Cuba rounded out the top-three with 101 points.

Junior men’s freestyle
The Junior Pan Am Championships serves as a qualifier for the Junior Pan American Games at only the Olympic weights. The top-eight in each of the six Olympic weights per style will earn bids to the Junior Pan Am Games in Cali, Colombia, in December.

The U.S. Junior men’s freestyle team qualified three Olympic weights today (57, 65, 74 kg) and has the chance to qualify three more on Sunday. USA scored two gold medals from Ryan Miller (57 kg) and Cade Devos (74 kg) to qualify as well as a bronze from Chance Lamer (65 kg).

Carter Young won a gold medal at a non-Olympic weight today, going 3-0 at 61 kg with two tech falls and one pin.

Cadet women’s freestyle
Like the Junior women’s tournament, the Cadet women’s tournament wrapped up today with USA winning a gold medal and a silver medal.

Thanks to an impressive day and a 4-0 record, Rose Cassioppi dominated the field at 73 kg for the gold medal. At 69 kg, Margaret Graham earned a silver medal, going 1-1 on the day.

The USA ran away with the team title, scoring seven champions and 235 points. Coming in second place was Mexico with 165 and taking third was Brazil with 52 points.

Cadet Greco-Roman
The Cadet Greco-Roman tournament began today and the USA swept the gold medals with championship performances from Bo Bassett (45 kg), Luke Lilledahl (48 kg), Alan Koehler (51 kg) and Kael Lauridsen (55 kg).

This marks the second Pan Am title of the week as all four athletes won Cadet men’s freestyle titles earlier in the tournament.
