When you're talking about "The Cowboys" in connection with Big 12 wrestling, more often than not, people may think you are referring to the John Smith-led Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Cowboys of Stillwater have amassed an NCAA-best 34 national titles and are currently the nine-time reigning Big 12 Tournament team champs. Then, just three days later, on June 11, Jore Volk, another consensus top-80 prep out of Minnesota (Class of 2022), pledged to be a Wyoming Cowboy alongside fellow recruits and future teammates Dendy and Harper. https://twitter.com/JoreVolk/status/1403523555564851205 Earlier this year, Volk became the first Lakeville North wrestler to win back-to-back state championships. In 2020 Volk took the MSHSL title at 106 pounds and followed up with a 2021 MHSHL state title at 120 pounds. In 2019, as a freshman, he was a state runner-up. In total, Volk is 119-6 in high school competition over the last three seasons. Volk was a USA Wrestling Cadet National Champion in both freestyle and Greco in 2019 as well. https://twitter.com/JoreVolk/status/1403507991765209091 The moves represent an excellent week in recruiting for an already talented Wyoming squad. Wyoming turned some heads with a strong showing at the 2021 Big 12 Championships, finishing fourth and placing four in the conference finals matches. This trio will add some great depth to the lineup.
