While Division I college coaches aren't allowed to officially contact recruits for another week yet (June 15), that has not stopped top prospects from the 2022 and 2023 classes from making their college decision known. Cody Chittum chooses to Minnesota here. Christian Carroll picks Illinois here. The latest in a slew of commitments since the recruiting period opened up is TOM's No. 3 at 132, Zeke Seltzer (Class of 2022/Cathedral, Indiana) who pledged to Brian Smith and the Mizzou Tigers late Tuesday night, June 8. https://twitter.com/ZekeSeltzer/status/1402441564333477889 At the next level. Seltzer likely fits at 133. The weight isn't a pressing need for the Tiger Style wrestling program at this time, but Seltzer's accolades on the mat are too good to pass up. The rising senior, Seltzer, is a three-time state finalist and two-time champion in his native Indiana, winning titles at 120 and 126 during the last two seasons. Additionally, Seltzer earned bronze at the Super 32 and placed twice at Fargo U16's as a freestyler. While Trey Crawford and Korbin Shepherd are slated to back up junior Matt Schmitt in 2021-22, having a surplus of lightweight talent is a good problem to have. A deep lightweight room will be all the more valuable as as the University of Missouri wrestling program transitions back to a very competitive Big 12 Conference starting next season.
