USA Wrestling put on a trio of star-studded regional tournaments this weekend in Manor, Pennsylvania (Northeast Regional), Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin (Northern Plains Regional), and North Logan, Utah (Western Regional).
Here are TOM’s top performers from the action-packed weekend, according to our newly-minted high school rankings aficionado, Colt Yinger.
Mason Gibson (TOM's No. 2 at 120 pounds)
Gibson, a Pennsylvania native and M2 training center athlete, had an impressive weekend as he went 5-0, outscoring his opponents 53-2. at the Northeast Regional.
Nate Jesuroga (TOM’s No. 1 at 113 pounds)
Jesuroga, your Cadet World Team member, continued his reign of terror as he outscored his five opponents 50-0 en route to a Northern Plains Regional championship.
Sergio Lemley (TOM’s No. 2 at 126 pounds)
Lemley is your No. 2-rated wrestler at 126 pounds, and he proved why this weekend. Lemley, another young talent, won himself a Northern Plains Regional title as he outscored his opponents 54-1.
Joseph Sealey (TOM’s No. 7 at 152 pounds)
Joseph Sealey had a great start to his summer. He went 5-0 and won a Northeast Regional crown. In doing so, Sealy took out No. 8 Nick Vafiadis 12-6 in their battle of the top-10 foes to win the title.
Rocco Welsh (TOM’s No. 5 at 152 pounds)
Have yourself a weekend Rocco Welsh. Welsh would go 5-0 in route to his Northeast Regional title. Welsh had nationally-ranked Domonic Baker and Erik Gibson to contend with this weekend. In his dominating semifinal, Welsh would beat Baker 12-2 and go on to a 13-2 tech fall in his finals match over a tough Holden Garcia.
