For the first time in Central Coast history, an official Olympic Regional Training Center will come to San Luis Obispo to offer Freestyle, Greco, and Collegiate style wrestling training to beginner, intermediate, and advanced wrestlers. This RTC and Sports Club will allow the community to integrate all wrestling levels, including Division I, community college, high school, middle school, and youth level student-athletes.

Earlier this week, the organization announced the need to fundraise $15,000 in reoccurring monthly donations for the 3-year lease of the new facility. These funds will go directly toward improving the facility and allowing local wrestlers to utilize it.

"The Central Coast RTC and Sports Club is being created for our community – giving wrestlers of all ages and experience levels the opportunity to train together year-round," Jon Sioredas, head wrestling coach at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo said to CentralCoast.org. "The cost to train at the facility is roughly $100 per wrestler. A $500 sponsorship will ensure five wrestlers get the opportunity to train at the Central Coast RTC. Through those sponsorships, donors and/or the coaches can select the wrestlers who the sponsorship will go toward. We're hoping it'll help people see the real impact this RTC is going to have on local wrestling programs."

The facility is 6,000 square feet, including male and female locker rooms and 5,000 square feet for wrestling mats. The building has 40-foot ceilings and retractable curtains that allow for indoor/outdoor training. With the sponsorship funding, the RTC will be adding new UWW wrestling mats, wall padding, and branding throughout the facility. Additionally, an elite-level coach will oversee this facility's training and development, RTC practices, club practices, and competition.
