A Busy Weekend of Wrestling is Ahead

The 2021 NCAAs may be in the rearview mirror, but that doesn't mean there isn't an excellent weekend of amateur and international wrestling ahead.

There will be the Olympic Team Trials in freestyle, which take place Friday and Saturday at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

Additionally, the 47th annual Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic, known as the Rose Bowl of wrestling, will be happening on the amateur side of the sport. The 2021 Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic will take place Friday, April 2nd, at Hilton Garden Inn – Southpointe in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.

Statistically speaking, Team USA has a 27-18 lead over Team Pennsylvania and has won the last eight contests, the longest streak in event history. Team WPIAL possesses a 28-16 edge over the various states that have wrestled against the team of PIAA District 7 competitors at The Classic over the years.

Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, and West Virginia are the only states that own wins over Team WPIAL. Iowa, Ohio, and New York have beaten Team WPIAL three times.
